My Interrail Adventure | Travel Update

Amidst assignment deadlines and uni lectures, I’ve been planning a big trip behind-the-scenes. Today marks 8 weeks until I jet off to what will be my first destination of many over the course of a month. Interrailing basically involves hopping from location to location through Europe, typically by train but also by bus and ferry.

Exploring new places is honestly one of my favourite things to do in life and I feel so lucky that in the past 12 months, I have already been able to visit Krakow in Poland and New York City. By the end of summer, added to that list will be Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Ljubljana (I’m having trouble pronouncing that one too), Trieste, Venice and Barcelona. I pretty much spend all day every day thinking about the maze-like streets that I’m going to get lost in, the food that I’m going to devour and the amazing sights and experiences that I’m never going to forget.

From Berlin to Venice, I’ll be travelling alone. This is a fact that has had some quite mixed responses and I DEFINITELY plan on talking about it in a separate blog post, along with my other musings on the planning, the packing, what I’ve learnt along the way and so on…

Although I first began the planning process just a couple of months ago, this is something I’ve been dreaming about for (literally) years and years. I’ve read travel blogs religiously, way back before blogging was even considered ‘a thing’. So for this reason, I’d really like to put my own thoughts and opinions on my Interrail Adventure out there into the world. Nobody has to read what I write – I think recording my experiences will just be absolutely invaluable to my future self.

So with two months to go: my flights and hostels are booked, my trains are reserved, my choice of backpack has been narrowed down and my list of things to see/do/eat is ever-growing.
